Vigilante Marketing started by branding the site to reflect New Society’s values, choosing colors of the Earth that New Society was working so hard to preserve. An Earth color palette was applied which not only created consistent branding throughout the site, but also a style that strongly aligned with New Society’s values.
Organizing and highlighting their books was a must. We started by condensing their previous scattered approach by bringing all books onto one page and adding a robust filter system that allows customers to easily search their catalog by book title, author, or type of resource. We also helped them to highlight different featured books on the site by creating an award winners category, featured author bios & full profiles, a coming soon feed, and staff picks.
Updating the e-commerce side was essential for New Society to manage its many sales, promotions, pre-orders, and multi-currency payment methods. We set them up with a robust, customized WooCommerce system that gives them complete control over how their books are sold and, with its reporting features, has been easily integrated into the bookkeeping process.
Following the improved book organization system and e-commerce platform updates, Vigilante Marketing added a blog to showcase New Society’s in-depth articles on promoting sustainability, this blog is easily editable for all members of the New Society team to add, edit, and manage blog posts in an organized backend system, with improved processes for creating content, adding photos, and adjusting article categories.
We also wanted to ensure that New Society’s customers would want to come back to New Society’s website over and over again, so we created a user login portal where users would be able to view past orders and invoices, as well as add books to a wishlist and view any pre-orders they may have made. This added user transparency has greatly improved customer trust and has led to a far reduced number of customer support requests.
