You have the option to choose a variety of payment methods when you run Facebook ads. You can always manage your payment methods from your Payment Settings in Ads Manager.
Remember, if you share either your payment method or ad account with others, be sure to check with them if you don’t recognize charges on your bill. Often times in this scenario, another person has run separate ads using your payment method or ad account.
Add a payment method to your ad account
Your Payment Settings in Ads Manager is where you can add new payment methods to your ad account.
Before taking the steps shown here, keep the following things in mind:
- First make sure you’re an admin of the ad account you’re working on. You’ll have to be one to manage an ad account’s payment methods. Learn more about ad accounts and permissions.
- Check that the payment method you’re trying to add is an accepted payment option for Facebook ads.
- If your ad account is set up for manual payments (meaning you add money to a balance on your account), you won’t be able to add a payment method in the same way that’s shown here. Also, some payment methods won’t be an available option for you to use (such as PayPal). Learn more about manual payments.
Steps to add a payment method to your ad account
- Go to your Payment Settings in Ads Manager.
- In the Payment Method section, click Add Payment Method.
- Choose the payment method you want to add, fill in your information and then click Continue. Follow any additional instructions to add your payment method.
Your payment method will saved to your account.
Remove a payment method from your ad account
Your Payment Settings in Ads Manager is where you can remove a payment method from your ad account if you don’t want to use it to pay for your ads anymore.
Before taking the steps shown here, keep the following things in mind:
- First make sure you’re an admin of the ad account you’re working on. You’ll have to be one to manage an ad account’s payment methods. Learn more about ad accounts and permissions.
- If you want to remove your current primary payment method but also want to keep advertising on Facebook, add another payment method first.
- If you want to close your ad account and remove all your payment methods from it, follow the steps for deactivating your ad account.
- If you’ve added a payment method to your Facebook account before (like to purchase games or apps), you’ll see it listed as one of your payment methods. You can remove it if you no longer want it available in your account.
Steps to remove a payment method from your ad account
- Go to your Payment Settings in Ads Manager.
- In the Payment Method section, find the payment method you want to remove and then click Remove on the right.
Note: If you don’t see the payment method you want to remove, click Show More to display all of your ad account’s payment methods.
- In the confirmation screen, click Remove.
Your payment method will be removed from your ad account.
Change your primary payment method for ads
Your primary payment method is the default payment method on your ad account. It’s the one that gets charged for the ads you create and run on Facebook. If you’ve added multiple payment methods to your account, you can choose which one is your primary payment method from your Payment Settings in Ads Manager.
Before taking the steps shown here, keep the following things in mind:
- First make sure you’re an admin of the ad account you’re working on. You’ll have to be one to manage an ad account’s payment methods. Learn more about ad accounts and permissions.
- If your ad account is set up for manual payments (meaning you add money to a balance on your account), your ad account won’t have a primary payment method because you won’t be charged automatically for your ads. Learn more about manual payments.
Steps to change your primary payment method for ads
- Go to your Payment Settings in Ads Manager.
- In the Payment Method section, find the payment method you want and then click Make Primary.
Note: If you don’t see the payment method you want, click Show More to display all of your ad account’s payment methods.
- In the confirmation screen, click Make Primary.
Your primary payment method will be updated. Keep in mind that if you’ve just recently added a new payment method, it’ll need to be verified before you can make it your primary payment method.
Edit or update a payment method
Your Payment Settings in Ads Manager is where you can edit or update the details of a payment method you’ve connected to your ad account.
Before taking the steps shown here, first make sure you’re an admin of the ad account you’re working on. You’ll have to be one to manage an ad account’s payment methods. Learn more about ad accounts and permissions.
Steps to edit or update a payment method
- Go to your Payment Settings in Ads Manager.
- In the Payment Method section, click Edit next to the payment method you want to update.
Note: If you don’t see the payment method you want to update, click Show More to display all of your ad account’s payment methods.
- Make your changes and then click Save.
Your payment method will be updated.
