who they are

The Riverside Club

The Riverside Club is a full-service fitness and lifestyle club in NW Calgary, running a co-ed gym and a women’s gym, group fitness classes, personal training, a heated pool, hot tub and steam room, aqua fit and pool rehab, and a growing indoor pickleball programme with open play, leagues, tournaments and lessons.

Vigilante Marketing built theriverside.ca from Frankie & Boyd’s design, integrated CourtReserve for court booking, and hosts and looks after the site.

The Challenge

What They Needed

The Riverside Club is a full-service fitness and lifestyle club in NW Calgary. Under one roof it runs a co-ed gym and a women’s gym, group fitness classes, personal training, a heated pool, hot tub and steam room, aqua fit and pool rehab, and a fast-growing indoor pickleball programme on its way to fifteen courts.

Working with Frankie & Boyd, the club had a complete new site designed in Figma: bright, warm and built around the line “Wellness that moves with you.”

The problem with a club this busy is that almost nobody arrives looking for “the website.” They arrive looking for one thing: a class time, a court, a membership price, today’s pool hours.

So the brief was not only to build the design faithfully. It was to make a site where eight different audiences can each find their one thing in a couple of clicks, and where staff can keep schedules and instructors current without calling us.

A Flip Card Grid Built From Scratch

The centrepiece of Jill’s design was a grid of cards that turn over to reveal what sits behind each part of the club. Nothing off the shelf did what the design asked for, so we built it as a custom element in Impreza.

It carries the whole facility list, co-ed gym, women’s gym, fitness classes, personal training, aquatics and pickleball, in one compact block, and it is reused across the homepage and the interior pages rather than rebuilt each time. Each card keeps a fixed square ratio at every breakpoint, so the grid stays even whether a card holds three words or thirty.

Custom Mega Menus That Do the Sorting

A club that offers this much usually ends up with a menu nobody reads. We built custom mega menus instead, so the main navigation opens into grouped, illustrated panels rather than a long drop-down list.

Gym and fitness, classes, aquatics, pickleball and membership each get their own panel with its own imagery, which means a first-time visitor can see the shape of the whole club in one glance and go straight to the page they actually want. The same structure holds up on a phone, where the menu collapses into clear sections instead of an endless scroll.

Court Booking Without Leaving the Site

Pickleball is the fastest-moving part of the club, and it runs on CourtReserve. Rather than bounce players out to a separate system, we integrated CourtReserve into the site so court rentals, drop-in sessions and programme sign-ups are reachable from the pages people already landed on.

Alongside it, classes and instructors run as their own content types in WordPress. The club adds a class or a new coach once, and it appears in the schedule, the filtered class grid and the instructor profiles automatically, with every grid image held to the same square crop so the layouts never go ragged.

The Result?

The Riverside Club now has a site that matches the place: bright, busy and easy to get around. Frankie & Boyd’s design is live exactly as drawn, the pickleball programme books through the site rather than around it, and the team can add a class, a coach or a schedule change themselves. We host the site, keep it updated and look after it from here.
